How To Revolve In Fusion 360

Can the Circumduct tool create features better than performing a series of extrusions?

The revolve tool involves choosing a profile and and so choosing an axis that the profile will circumduct around. In that location are cases with the circumduct tool that many reader entries contained in technical documentation assert that at that place are "problems". These problems are nearly always the issue of using open up profiles:  typically, these are a curvilinear path via a spline, with a line separate from the spline, to form the axis. This instance we exist described at the latte part of this article. For at present, consider this center point rectangle that has a second, smaller rectangle on the bottom side:

Creating the 3D model with the "revolve" tool; call up that pick a profile, and then you choice an centrality, in which this instance is the horizontal line forth the x axis:

When the axis is clicked, the profile revolves around that called axis. If y'all look at the browser, a torso is then created, which was non in the browser prior to the modification:

The design intent at this signal is to modify this part so that it adheres the \mechanism that connect to the shat link. This will first involve a center point that will map to the round part on the left side. The diameter will be larger, and a line will be drawn from the upper left side of chord to the correct side of the chord.  Here is the middle sketch, and its dimensions:

Find that the line is drawn inside of the circle, but is not interfering with the profile. This center-indicate circle is fatigued to map to the left side of the round stop. The line is there is there to define where there will be an extruded cut to the center role:

The horizontal line defines the  contour that will form an extruded cut to the eye of the shaft:

The horizontal line defines the  profile that will form an extruded cut to the center of the shaft:

And the cut needed to develop that function of the shaft link:

On the other end of the shaft, the 2 vertical lines from a profile. The construction line does not interfere with the rectangular profile that is to be cut with an extrusion. More than to the point, subsequently defining the first sketch and t\hen revolving that profile around the horizontal x axis, iii more sketches were needed to finalize the body, or the part. Sure technical documentation calls a body a drove of features, fifty-fifty this appears to exist a part. Other technical documentation consider's a office file equally part of An Autodesk Inventor Project file. The equivalent file in Fusion 360 would exist an assembly.  Notwithstanding it is defined, the underlying principles, especially using sketches to map onto a 3D model, enable further modification.

To see how these sketches map onto the initial 3D model, examine the links between those sketches, as shown below:

That is, the extrusion will cutting to left line of the middle sketch. Lastly, another center bespeak circle (i having a smaller diameter) has two vertical lines to define another cut. Notice that in the middle of those lines there is a construction line.We can now meet that at that place has been two extruded cuts and ane hole:

The left side of the shaft has been extruded with a cut, and lastly, a middle diameter circumvolve has been drawn in the midpoint of the apartment part of the right side of the shaft.  The pigsty tool provided a dialog box that permits one to insert measurements that volition form a pigsty without whatever rims around the initial mark:

Sometimes during a Fusion 360 session might find that revolved cylindrical parts apply a sketch with a middle axis. two might appear to be equivalent, just how they are constrained and dimensioned defines adherence to design intent. For instance, a sketch profile could be anchored at the origin, but a similar ane could be anchor3ed at the origin and dimensioned from the origin. That is, one sketch shows a sketch profile anchored at the origin and dimensioned from the origin. The other sketch is anchored at the origin merely dimensioned from a created centerline, which creates diametric dimensions. The two sketches volition create the same revolved feature, the deviation being that the centerline allows yous to dimension the sketch using diameter dimensions to maintain the design intent of the part.

Here is what the function appears as:

1: the closed contour, and bottom middle line, which is 105 mm to the left of the origin:

Fusion 360's revolve tool is capable of creating surface features.  The contour will exist an open up contour that will have complete dimensions that are linear. The centerline to the right of the open up contour is a construction line that also mimics the linear dimensions placed on the right. Choosing the open contour and then the vertical line will create a revolved surface. Information technology appears that this open contour is a set of three three point arcs, and not a path. The sweep tool would involve choosing a profile and then choosing a path.

The revolved surface that forms a 3d model. Its surface tin exist thickened to requite information technology  this blazon of appearance:
